e-Works is the gateway for the academic works produced by members, guests and foreign collaborators of IEMo - Instituto de Estudos sobre o Modernismo [Institute for Studies on Modernism].
Created in the year of the centenary of the birth of Fernando Pessoa (1988), IEMo has been committed to the safeguard, preservation and study of the estates of modernist authors. It is, still today, the only Portuguese research institute maintaining a systematic and continuous study of Fernando Pessoa work’s and of his modernist peers. IEMo has developed several projects and published about 60 books.
IEMo has also been devoted to the study of the relationship of Portuguese modernist authors with their foreign counterparts, exploring the dialogue that takes place across borders, both in the field of literature as well as the other arts.
The disclosure of the results of nearly twenty years of research in a spirit of community service has been done through free courses, seminars and open days, conferences, and visits to high schools, together with publications in several national and foreign journals.
Now, through Modernista magazine, it intends to show online not only the ongoing investigations carried out by its members, but also what in our fields is being done in the world.
